There's a lot to appreciate about the 2024 Ford Expedition MAX. It's spacious, strong, and full of great infotainment technology features that help you enjoy every ride. Alongside that, there's also an array of tech features that make your journeys safer thanks to Ford Co-Pilot360's numerous driver assistance features.
4 Safety Features of the 2024 Ford Expedition MAX
1. Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert
The Ford Expedition MAX detects cars in your blind spot via radar. When a vehicle is detected there, a light appears on your side view mirror to alert you.
The same radar scans the area around you when you're backing up. If there's a vehicle heading in your direction from either side, then you'll receive an alert in your side view mirror and hear a sound warning you of the approaching car. A display in your message center also lets you know what side the vehicle is approaching from.
2. Lane Keeping System
A single moment of distraction can be enough to get your car drifting toward the next lane, so your Ford Expedition MAX is always on the lookout to warn you if you're drifting. A camera scans the lane markings on both sides of the road, then your steering wheel vibrates if you get too close to one of them.
The Lane-Keeping Aid aspect of the system can apply steering talk to move you back into the middle of your lane, too. You can choose to turn Lane-Keeping Aid off if you like. Finally, the Driver Alert feature of the Lane Keeping System sends an alert to your message center if you repeatedly end up drifting toward the next lane. The reminder tells you it's time to take a break from driving and refresh before you continue.
3. Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
Cameras constantly watch the area in front of your car and are able to detect vehicles and pedestrians in front of you. If it's likely that you'll crash into a detected driver or pedestrian, then you'll hear a noise and see a warning pop up in your message center. This should give you enough time to brake. If it doesn't, then your brakes will activate by themselves.
4. Evasive Steering Assist
Evasive Steering Assist doesn't control your steering, but it does provide more support while you're swerving to avoid a collision. The feature can also warn you if a car has slowed down and stopped in your path, ideally giving you time to brake or swerve to avoid crashing into the slow/stopped car.
